Ferrofet Catalana, a company that is part of the Pujol Group and which is headquartered in Mollerussa, was honoured Wednesday, June 18, with the Work/Life Balance award. This honour was given out as part of the 13th annual Family-Owned Businesses and Organizations Awards, organized by the "Grup d'Entitats Catalanes de la FamĂlia,” GEC—the Catalan Family Organizations Group—and sponsored by the FIATC Seguros insurance company. The Family Businesses and Institutions Awards were inaugurated in 1995. They seek to recognize companies or organizations that sponsor or support activities targeted directly at family life and family-friendly environments, or that promote recognition of the role of the family within society.
Mr. Josep Balagué, director of the Human Resources Department, expressed his satisfaction when he accepted this award, giving thanks on behalf of all Ferrofet personnel, especially all the women who work there, for the honour bestowed on the company by the Catalan Family Organizations Group.
"Our company is located in Les Terres de Ponent, in Mollerussa, and it is somewhat unique, because starting 10 years ago, it became the first company in the construction sector where the vast majority of workers were women, in a job that traditionally men have held. Today it continues to be the only one of its kind in this regard. Moreover, most of these women have children, and we have more than 10 of them with grandchildren already; many have entered the world of work for the first time, at an age when not all doors are open to them, yet here they are able to do so with a schedule that allows them to combine work with childcare and family.
Other organizations recognized during in this thirteenth annual Family Awards include: Caja Mediterráneo, Ingenio, Establecimientos Viena, CIRE, and DSN Resizing.
